CUSTOM CASIO WATCHES BY ERIC THURN - CERTIFIED* NYLON CUTTER

Let me make my case for why you should buy a custom Casio from ARCH-MOD.

I made ARCH-MOD to solve one key problem.

The problem

EXHIBIT A

Notice how there's a major gap between the strap and the width of the watch? This is because the width of the watch, top and bottom, is roughly 22.5mm, while the width of the lugs themselves is only 18mm. This issue is present not only on the F-91W, but on most Casio watches as well, including the A159/A168s, AE-1200/1300s, LF-20Ws, and many more models. And if you ask me, it looks ridiculous. This is an issue on almost every modded Casio you'll find online. It's always bothered me, but most people in the Casio modding scene seem to turn a blind eye to it.

The solution

Most people will simply opt for a standard 18mm strap to fit easily to the 18mm lugs of their Casio, while others will use adapters to fit wider straps to the watch. I wasn't satisfied with either of these options, so I developed a simple yet effective method to adjust full-width 22mm nylon straps to ensure a perfect fit. Have a look:

EXHIBIT B

The result

Looks far better, don't you agree?

By carefully measuring, cutting and heat-sealing, I've developed a simple yet effective method to adjust these straps to fit perfectly to the width of these watches.Nylon is not an easy material to cut as it is prone to fraying, so it needs to be heated in the areas where it will be cut before notching. It is generally a finnicky process, so I only have a few of these watches in stock at a time.If you're interested, you can take a look at a full list of all custom Casios I've released, as well as their availability and prices below.

NEGATIVE LCD + 22MM NATO STRAP

The A158 RETROSILVER is an aesthetic upgrade to the original Casio A158W.The RETROSILVER mod is not intended to overhaul the look, but rather to enhance it. This was done with the addition of a high quality nylon strap in combination with a negative LCD to match the black watch face. The original metal strap has been replaced with a quality 22mm NATO nylon strap in blue-green-red, precisely notched to fit the full width of the watch, ensuring a proportional look.
It has been heat-sealed to prevent any fraying.
Although still a nylon strap, you may find that this type of strap is considerably softer and more comfortable than most NATO nylon straps due to the seatbelt-style nylon used in its construction.

NYLON NOTCHING

Most people will simply opt for a standard 18mm strap to fit easily to the 18mm lugs of the A158, while others will use adapters to fit wider straps to the watch. I wasn't satisfied with either of these options, so I developed a simple yet effective method to adjust these nylon straps to ensure a perfect fit.I think you'll like it.

RETROCHROMA

DESCRIPTION

NEGATIVE LCD + 22MM NATO STRAP

The F-91W RETROCHROMA mod pays tribute to the bright, contrasting retro colours of the original Casio F-91W. I've been wanting to perform this mod for a while now but could never quite find the right strap to match the blue-red-yellow of this model until I found just the right one from a small strap store, allowing me to finally complete this mod.The F-91W RETROCHROMA features a standard negative LCD mod. It looks better on some watches than others, with this model being a perfect fit as the now yellow digits go very well along
with the yellow accents on the faceplate.
The original resin strap has been replaced with a quality 22mm NATO nylon strap in blue-red-green, precisely notched to fit the full width of the watch, ensuring a proportional look.
It has been heat-sealed to prevent any fraying.

Nice to meet you. I'm

Eric Thurn

I'm a student of business & finance, hobbyist photographer, artist & designer, and watch modder based in York, England.I got my first Casio watch, the W-86, when I was a teenager in secondary school. Although it was very simple, I loved the functional, retro design. I didn't care much for watches at the time, but this unassuming timepiece was ultimately what sparked my later interest in horology.I've also always been a tinkerer, restoring old laptops and modding android devices since my teenage years.Today I am a major watch enthusiast. I particularly love vintage-style chronographs and field watches. But my respect and appreciation for the simplicity, efficiency and unique look of Casio's digital watches has never dwindled - only grown. It is no wonder then, that my history with Casio watches, combined with my background in technology and design has led me to this hobby of mine; watch modding, and the resulting creation of ARCH-MOD.
